Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild
An 8+ open roller derby league. Home of the Deathbridge City Rollers and Windy City Wipeouts.
The Deathbridge Derby Dames were as hot as the temperature outside on July 7 as they took on the DAMNsels of Distress in roller derby action at Henderson Arena.
Using strong player walls and effective blocking, the Dames were able to pull a commanding lead of 171 to 15 after 30 minutes of play. In the second half, the DAMNsels were able to pull some momentum to score consistently, but the point spread was too far. The Deathbridge Derby Dames easily took the win 326-67.
Dames coach Jeremiah Swap, says even though the game was a runaway, he wouldn’t let his players take their guards down.
“I wanted the skaters to have the opportunity to play out of their comfort zone. Our advanced skaters played in new positions and we gave our newer skaters a lot more track time. It was great experience for everyone.”
The Dames next game is this Saturday (July 14) in Calgary where they will face Edmonton’s Los Pistolitas. Their next home roller derby bout is on August 11at Henderson Arena where they will be taking on the Kill Jills from Calgary’s Chinook City Roller Derby.
