If you haven’t had the opportunity to take in local roller derby action this summer, Aug. 11 will be your last chance when the Deathbridge Derby Dames take on the Kill Jills of Calgary’s Chinook City Roller Derby Association.

The Dames have met the Kill Jills before. At April’s Flat Track Fever tournament in Calgary, the challenge bout had Deathbridge come out on top with a 77-35 victory. Meeting four months later, the Dames are set to bring their top game as the Kill Jills have been a force to reckon with. The Kill Jills dominated their last game against the St. Albert Heavenly Rollers in July. The Dames are currently ranked 25^th in Canada and the Jills are ranked 52^nd.

Played on roller skates and mixed in with full-contact action, the sport features athleticism and entertainment for fans of all ages. Roller derby has been running in the city under the Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild since 2010.

The Dames will face the Chinook City Roller Derby Association’s Kill Jills Aug. 11 at Henderson Ice Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. with game time set for 7 p.m. The arena features beer gardens and plenty of trackside seating for an up-close view of the game. Tickets for this family-friendly event are $10 in advance and available through the league website and locally through Blueprint, Culture Craze, Charisma and Boarderline. Kids 10 and under are always free. This event is proudly sponsored by 94.1 CJOC, Two Guys and a Pizza Place and Lethbridge Vehicle and Licensing and Registry.
