Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild
An 8+ open roller derby league. Home of the Deathbridge City Rollers and Windy City Wipeouts.
The Deathbridge Derby Dames are hitting the road this weekend to take on the Missfits of Mayhem of the Central Alberta Roller Derby Association in Wetaskiwin.
“We’re really excited for this matchup,” says coach Jessica Lloyd, aka Jesse Dahmer. “The Missfits were the first team the Dames played after we formed as a league. Now that we are meeting them one year later, it will be interesting to see how we’ve both grown in our level of play.”
On October 23, 2010 the Deathbridge Derby Dames hosted the Missfits of Mayhem and won their inaugural home bout 169-159.
The Lethbridge derby team is rolling into this next game high off their recent win against the Tar Sand Betties of Fort McMurray. The Dames took the Betties 160-91 in their Oct. 22 home bout, but acknowledge despite the win, it’s not time to get overconfident.
“This season we are focusing on strategy and playing smarter,” says coach Brad Recsky. “While we did a lot of things right in our first game of the season, the skaters still have a lot to improve on. We plan on fighting for every point.”
The Deathbridge Derby Dames will be playing at the Wetaskiwin Drill Hall on October 29, game time at 7 p.m.
