The Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild’s two league house teams, the Coalbank Crushers and the Windy City Wenches, came out to play and entertain their local fans at Henderson Sports Arena June 23. These two teams play with heart like no other, loving their opponents as they love their own teammates.
In the first half, teams were scoring the same number of points as they sneaked past the hips of the opposing teams skaters, as the score steadily crept up. At the end of the first period the the Wenches had a six point lead over the Crushers.
An action-packed second half brought the crowd into the appeal of this full contact sport. Plagued by penalties and highlighted with big hits, both teams played well while suffering a skater losses due to injury.
Final Score 161-112 for the Windy City Wenches

*The Wenches took this win with the help of 4 borrowed skaters from newly formed neighbouring teams, as their injury riddled team could not safely play a game with only 8 skaters.
